What is Life Coaching?
Life coaching is an action based discussion between you and your coach. It is about moving forward from wherever you are now regardless of how you got there.
What is the process?
We always start with an intake session, where we get to know one another and I take some history and you explain what you would like to achieve from the coaching. Don’t worry if you are not sure at first, as I can help you explore the areas in your life that you may need to change. We will then usually go through the following which will bring a new awareness to everything you do and help guide you through life and keep you on track.

What is small business coaching?
Small business coaching is a conversation between you and your coach that focuses on your business and how to move you forward. You are in charge of the process and we work on any area you think you want to make changes in. Your coach acts as a sounding board for new ideas you may have and helps you find the best way to implement them. Having a business coach help you stay on track as you will be accountable for anything you choose to do.
What are the benefits of life coaching?
Having a life coach will move you forward much fast than you could usually do on your own. Your confidence will improve and you will find direction. You will be challenged in a comfortable way, which may help you take a new look at the things that have not been working for you. You will realise your true potential in a supportive environment. Coaching reduces stress as you talk through the things you have on your mind, whether it be time management or personal issues.
Is a Life Coach an expert in most areas of life?
Coaching is about bringing the best out of every client. The process is not about the telling the client exactly what to do, therefore the coach does not need to be an expert in all areas. The coach empowers the client to find their own answers and solutions and to take responsibility and ownership of their own personal and professional development.
Is Life Coaching another name for mentoring?
There are similarities but whilst mentoring often focuses on receiving advice from someone who is very experienced or is considered an expert in a specific subject, coaching is not based on dispensing advice. Instead, it increases people’s insights into their own abilities and strengths and helps them achieve their full potential and become who they really want to be. It is based on the belief that people have the internal resources that enable them to achieve bigger and better results in all areas of their lives.
Is Coaching the same as Therapy or Counselling?
Coaching is not the same as therapy or counselling. Coaching is focused on getting you from where you are now to where you want to be. Coaching is about taking action, whereas therapy or counselling is about looking into your past of an issue you have had that may be holding you back. The similarity between the two involves the fact that they both enable us to recognise that some of our beliefs, thoughts and decisions are unhelpful to ourselves and limit us. In coaching, we work on limiting beliefs together and replaced them with supportive ones that encourage greater successes and happiness.
Can I successfully have life coaching simultaneously as receiving therapy?
Yes, as long as the two processes are kept separate, and both professionals know about each other. Many of my clients have successfully improved their lives through combining these distinct methods.
Is the Life Coaching like sharing thoughts and problems with a friend?
Coaching focuses entirely on you and involves the identification of goals, outlining how to achieve them, and addressing any barriers in order to enable clients to increase their effectiveness, happiness and productivity in all areas of their lives. Unlike a friend, the coach has no emotional agenda of his/her own and is therefore able to remain independent, non-judgemental and non-critical throughout.
Is Life Coaching time consuming?
On average the sessions take place every two or three weeks and last an hour. You can have any number of sessions, from one upwards, it’s up to you. Most clients start out with one session for a couple of weeks, then drop it to once every two week, until we get to a “maintenance” phase, where you check in with your coach every 6 weeks or so. You can also have just one a session whenever something comes up that you would like help with or to help you make a decision about something very important in your life.
We spend weeks planning our annual holiday, but very little planning our life. Which is more important to you?
